Circle of Security Parenting Program

Parenting Course For Better Parent-Child Relationships

Parenting Course

Confident Parenting Leads To Improved Outcomes

Many parents can feel lost or are unsure of what they should do or what their child needs from them. Imagine what it would be like if you knew how to make sense of your child’s needs and ask them the right questions in order to better understand where they’re coming from. The Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) Program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.

Using the COSP™ model developed by the Circle of Security originators, our trained Facilitators work with parents and care-givers to help them to:

  • Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs
  • Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
  • Enhance the development of their child’s self esteem
  • Honor the innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure
Circle Of Security Parenting Program

How Does COSP Differ From Other Parenting Courses?

The Circle of Security Parenting Program is a unique and effective approach to parenting that differs from other programs in several key ways. Unlike many other parenting programs, the Circle of Security focuses on the emotional needs of both the child and the parent, helping parents to develop a deeper understanding of their child’s behavior and emotions. By doing so, parents are better equipped to respond to their child’s needs in a nurturing and supportive way.

One of the core principles of the Circle of Security is the belief that all children need a secure attachment to a parent or caregiver in order to thrive. This attachment is built through a cycle of closeness and separation, as the child learns to explore the world around them and then return to their caregiver for comfort and reassurance. The program offers practical tools and strategies to help parents create this cycle of attachment, including ways to tune in to their child’s emotions and respond in a sensitive and responsive manner.

While the Circle of Security is a distinct approach to parenting, it is not meant to be seen as a replacement for other programs or techniques. Rather, it is meant to complement and enhance other parenting strategies, offering a new set of tools and insights that can benefit any parent. By emphasizing the emotional bond between parent and child, the Circle of Security provides a valuable perspective on parenting that can help parents build stronger and more meaningful relationships with their children. Whether you are a new parent or have been parenting for years, the Circle of Security Parenting Program offers a fresh and insightful approach that can help you to be the best parent you can be.

Overview of COSPTM

How will my children benefit?

Most parents could benefit greatly from a program such as this as it is non-blaming and simply focuses on the connection through the relationship and how this can be enhanced.

Circle of SecurityTM helps parents and caregivers improve their own awareness of their children’s needs, giving parents the tools to strengthen parent-child relationships and raise secure children.

By attending this course, you will learn to look beyond your child’s behaviour and identify and respond to their emotional needs. It will help you enhance your child’s needs and improve your connection with them. The Circle of Security™ parenting course will help your child experience:

  • Greater self-esteem and self-worth
  • Better relationships with parents and peers
  • Enhanced school readiness
  • An increased capacity to handle emotions

What should I expect from this class?

Our facilitators aim to ensure a warm and relaxed environment for personal reflections and group discussion during the class. Being in a group offers a confidential space where you can share your struggles and parenting concerns and learn from others experiencing similar challenges.

Why COSPTM? A Path To Good Enough

It is often by parents to describe the Circle of Security Parenting program. Below is a short video with Deidre Quinlan, COS-International’s Project and Professional Development Director, who explains how knowing more about the program can help parents and caregivers promote security with the children in their lives.

Timely PCR Swab Service

Available between 8:30am – 9am

  1. Short Telephone Consult with the patient – bulk billed if Medicare eligible. Private fees with no Medicare rebates apply if the patient has not seen us in the last 12 months.
  2. The doctor will request a respiratory panel for viruses and bacteria (where clinically appropriate).  For example, Influenza, Covid, RSV, mycoplasma, pertussis and so forth.  Not all possible infections are on this panel.  The doctor may decline the request if it is not appropriate and direct the patient accordingly.
  3. Normal fees will apply if more than swabbing is requested.  Clinical examination and other requests requires a normal consultation at another time.
  4. Patient arrives at the car park next to Building 10 before 11am.  Or takes the pathology request to another 4Cyte collection centre.
  5. Patient calls reception to notify of their arrival so the 4Cyte Pathology Collector can gown up and go the patient’s car to swab the patient.
  6. PCR swab gets sent to 4Cyte.  The processing times varies according to workflows.
  7. 4Cyte will SMS the patient with the Covid results.  Positive PCR test results for other respiratory viruses or bacteria are not named.  A negative PCR result doesn’t mean the patient is infection free.  These swabs narrow down the possibilities and guide appropriate treatments.
  8. An appropriate appointment needs to be made for results in person, via video or via phone.  Normal fees applies for these consult.  Normal fees applies if the doctor calls the patient for further clinical advice and management.
